Fostering Pragmatic Fluency

Program Summary
A promising model for pragmatic training, proceeding from explication of L1 strategies through explanation of L2 norms to practice consisting in application of the latter against L1 (!) contexts. Learners become ‘pragmatically fluent’ before commencing to use the principles in the TL itself, transferring interactional patterns which will be appropriate.
