Program Summary
Holding both a quantitative and qualitative orientations, the study aims to investigate both native and non-native English students’ pragmatic production, perception, cognition, and sociopragmatic awareness in making requests in student-professor e-mail communications. Data were collected with electronic DCTs and stimulated recalls, and were coded, and analysed with NVivo 8.
