| This presentation reports on a study that explores the idiosyncratic nature of two case Chinese EFL learners’ pragmatic and discourse transfer in making requests, and examines possible patterns, conditions and constraints of individual transfer behaviors. The findings of the study contributes to the understanding of the intricate relationship between pragmatic/discourse competence, pragmatic/discourse awareness and transfer, as well as the teaching of pragmatics in L2 classrooms. |
