Effectiveness of a Guided Inductive Versus a Deductive Approach on the Learning of Grammar in the Intermediate-Level College French Classroom

Program Summary
This study investigated how to present grammar to intermediate-level French college students and compared the effects of a guided inductive approach to a deductive approach on short-term and long-term learning. Findings significantly favored the inductive approach on the short-term learning of grammar although a majority of students preferred rule explanations.
